MISSION AND PHILOSOPHY
Our mission at Union City High School is
to provide students a
strong foundation that will promote wise decision-making and
lifelong learning. We believe that students should be nurtured,
challenged, and
guided toward their maximum potential.
Students at Union City High School
continue, as in the past, to have
high expectations for success and set high standards for
achievement in many areas. Average ACT results continue to
indicate that Union City
High School is successfully preparing
students for college. We continue to meet or exceed the average
ACT scores in English, math, reading, and science.
The Union City College Preparatory Magnet
School offers all
students the opportunity to increase the rigor of their schedules.
AP and/or Honors sections are offered in English, Chemistry,
Physics, Biology, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre Calculus,
Calculus, and World History, With the goal of better preparing
Union City students for college or the workplace, these classes
will encourage higher level thinking, improve study skills, foster
advanced writing abilities, increase communication skills, and
enhance student organization.
Union City High School is a member of the Successful Practices
Network, sponsored by the International Center for Leadership in
Education. The not-for-profit Successful Practices Network is an
alliance of more than 600 schools (K-12) that have made a true
commitment to continuous school improvement. Members have
access to a broad range of expertise as well as best practices from
other schools dedicated to meeting the challenges of helping every
child succeed. To learn more about the International Center for
